What Uncommon Vehicle Is Common Where You Live?

I live in a city of less than 70,000 in south Mississippi. That being said, there are no less than 6 Maseratis where I live between 4 different models (Quatroporte, Ghibli, GranTurimso, and one early 2000's Spyder).

What make or model vehicle that would typically be considered uncommon is common where you live?

Alfa Romeo, particularly the SZ.

Because I live really close to an Alfa Romeo garage - and I heard it specialises in SZs/RZs.

Basically anything high end german or old. The Bay Area is weird like that. Karman Ghia’s and M3s.

Funny you mention the Ghia. There used to be a guy who live about a mile from me who worked on old VW’s in front of his apartment. Got to see many Beetle’s and Ghia’s over the years. There used to be several Karman Ghia’s around town, but I haven’t seen any in quite some time.

This, and the Ghibli, I’d say. The G-wagens all seem to be G550's or G63's - including a bright orange G63 that I see pretty regularly.

The Kizashi is incredibly popular in Northeast PA. I imagine that had a lot to do with being one of the few mid-size sedans available with AWD. I also see a ton of Maserati’s in the area, usually at least 1 a day.

In my observation, here in the Charlotte area in general, and in Gaston county specifically, the people who buy high-end vehicles tend to be either NASCAR people in a $70k tow rig (or full-size SUV, or modern muscle car), or bankers in high-end SUVs or german sedans.

However, there seem to be an abundance of 996-991 generation Porsche 911s and Nissan GT-Rs. I see at least one of either on the road almost every day.

Is the Golf R considered uncommon? I’ve heard that many dealers have them marked up and made inaccessible?

They’re everywhere here in Montreal, and they’re used year-round as daily drivers, in all the winter snow/ice/salt.

Seattle suburb:

Any Tesla - Model X are now a dime a dozen

Maserati also a dime a dozen, the cheap leases must be working

I’ve seen quite a few S600 Maybach lately

Various Bentleys, if you are into that kind of thing

70s-80s cars in decent condition still regularly on the road, some of them odd. I see Vanagon Syncros more often than I expect, for instance.

at college: Mitsubishi 3000GT, there’s at least a dozen where I go to college, a town of around 80,000.

Runner up: Suzuki X90, there used to be a ton about 5 years ago but now they’ve all but gone extinct.

On South Beach Lambos, Ferraris, and other exotics were the norm, because most are rentals. One of my friends in my apartment complex had two 911 turbos, F430, and a X6 for his wife. His brother in law got a new GTR. Where I live now outside of Orlando I see similar cars as I did in Miami, but the people own these. I see more Wraiths and Astons here. Plus there is a bunch of muscle cars. I see more Escalades and GLS AMGs than G wagons here.

The North East Kingdom, or NEK, as we call it is full of these... like every third or fourth car you see. Seriously, they’re almost common as F150s.

and recently these... there are a Surprising number of Focus RSs in the Northern half of Vermont.

Somebody once told me, I’m not sure if it’s true, but I believe it, that half of all Volvo wagons sold in the USA are sold in Vermont.

Murano CrossCabriolet — I see at least three unique ones on a monthly basis, which is shocking.

Mercedes AMG SUVs — ML/GLE, GL/GLS, etc. Living close to the factory, I think most of them began life as daily drivers for employees, then they stuck around. A strong chunk of all of these models (maybe 20%) are the monster versions.

Mitsubishi Mirage. They’re every where in San Antonio, but it’s kind of nice because they’re often real colors and not just grey and black.

Also various new cars that aren’t sold in the US. Like Renaults, Late model Rangers, Nissan Marchs (Micra), and that BMW hatchback thing that they run in touring car championships. They always Mexican plates on them.

Due to Microsoft and Amazon money in Seattle you see all sorts of cars. For every new arrival to the area that buys a Camry, there’s another who is a gearhead. One thing I saw yesterday on the 520 that’s uncommon was a Tesla Roadster.
